The South Mills Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1946 to provide fire protection services to the citizens of northern Camden County, primarily the township of South Mills. Our service area borders the Virginia State line, Currituck County and Pasquotank County. In addition to fire services, our department responds to motor vehicle crashes, providing extrications, assistance to EMS, and handling hazardous conditions / materials. We also work to educate the public by sponsoring fire safety education campaigns in our local school systems.
The South Mills Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce it is now operating out of a new location. The new station, located at 127 Keeter Barn Road, provides significantly more space for apparatus as well as increased meeting space for the department's business and training meetings. In addition, the new station provides office space for the department as well as a living spaces that will help to address future needs with regard to housing fire fighters overnight.
